Enterprise UX

The details are protected, but the stories are worth telling. Ask me about any of these in an interview.

Intranet redesign for a national restaurant chain

Problem
A dated LMS portal with no clear navigation hierarchy made it difficult for employees across hundreds of locations to find training, resources, and company updates.
Outcome
A fully redesigned intranet with custom learning path pages, a dynamic training widget, and a tabbed communications hub that received consistently positive feedback from both users and stakeholders.

Mobile responsive redesign for a heavily trafficked training application

Problem
A 52-page custom application built without responsive design left users unable to track or submit training records on mobile, with an outdated UI inconsistent with the surrounding LMS.
Outcome
A fully responsive redesign launched across all 52 pages, modernizing the interface, resolving existing bugs, and enabling mobile training tracking for the first time.

Training dashboard redesign for a public safety training platform

Problem
A dashboard using generic Bootstrap styling gave firefighter training professionals no way to quickly assess certification progress across multiple training categories.
Outcome
A fully branded dashboard featuring category cards with completion rings and contextual data views, recognized and displayed at FDIC International 2024, one of the largest firefighter training conferences in the world.

Information architecture redesign for a federal government learning portal

Problem
A competency framework spread across 30 individual subpages required excessive navigation and scrolling, making it difficult for Foreign Service officers to find and reference content efficiently.
Outcome
Consolidated into a single dynamic interface with tabbed navigation and modal content display, eliminating page-to-page navigation and making ongoing content updates significantly more efficient.
About

Built by the person who designed it.

Tristan Huyck headshot

Over the past 6 years I've designed enterprise dashboards, learning portals, and intranet tools for Fortune 500 clients across retail, hospitality, and public safety. More recently I've taken that same approach to client work through FusionForm, the studio I co-founded, designing and building web experiences for small and local businesses.

My background in front-end development means I don't just design solutions, I build them. That context changes how I design from the start.

When I'm not designing, I'm trying new restaurants in Grand Rapids, current favorite is Old Goat, dialing in espresso shots, playing guitar, and watching Manchester United matches.

Founder & UX Designer

FusionForm Design Studio
Feb 2019 - Current

Started as independent freelance web design work in 2019, formalized as FusionForm in 2024 after establishing an LLC. Built brands and conversion-focused websites for small businesses across Grand Rapids. Clients include a residential concrete contractor that received 40 estimate requests in its first 30 days of season, and a Mexican food truck and caterer booking events from graduation parties to a 150-guest wedding.

UX & Front-End Designer

Rightpoint | General Motors
Oct 2025 - Jan 2026

Migrated GM's enterprise design system across 20+ vehicle brand libraries from Sketch and Axure to Figma, ensuring components, colors, typography, and icons were accurately connected to the correct libraries. Where discrepancies existed, applied design judgment to select the closest matching option and flagged brand owners for review. Collaborated with Rightpoint and GM designers and PMs across distributed product teams.
