Manchester United lineup viewer displayed on iPad against wood slats
The problem

Traditional lineup displays in sports apps and broadcasts often lack depth and interactivity. Users can see who’s starting, but they miss out on meaningful context, like how a player’s position complements the formation, their specific skill strengths, or how they’ve been performing across the season. For fans, analysts, and casual viewers alike, the lack of layered, accessible insights limits engagement and deeper understanding of the game.

The Solution

This interactive lineup viewer bridges that gap by transforming static formations into data-rich, explorable visuals. Users can seamlessly toggle between player numbers, nationalities, and positions on a dynamic hex-based formation layout. Tapping on any player reveals detailed skill ratings, like shooting, heading, and passing, as well as seasonal performance metrics such as goals, shot locations, and more. It’s a comprehensive, user-friendly experience that turns lineups into an analytical and visual tool.

Whether you're analyzing player roles, comparing technical attributes, or reviewing season data, the tool delivers a seamless blend of form and function for a deeper look into the game.
